Dear Reader
Mental health is as important as physical health. I know myself I sometimes struggle with both, and sometimes at the same time, but the thing is, they are also connected. Our physical health regime could be running or walking, but if we run or walk outside in parks or in natural places, we also help our mental health.
I suffer myself from General Anxiety Disorder. Most of the time i am ok, I do what I can and try and do the things I need to do, in order to feel happy. I have had ups and downs over the years. My ups were when I braved my fears and did it anyway, and of course, that was when I met amazing people who became friends in my life, or learnt something new that I could do and enjoy.
Sometimes our fears can be overwhelming, but I also always think that when they do get overwhelming, it’s good to talk about it. I mean, really, it’s good to talk things out anyway, instead of bottling it up and letting the fears overwhelm, but yes, when the fears do seem overwhelming speak to others. You might find that there’s people out there on the same boat as you.
Today is Mental Health Day and I wanted to write a bit about my mental health, but I also wanted to write about an organisation I’ve found so brilliant called ‘The Blurt Foundation’. They are all about helping those with anxiety and depression, have so much content to help and support, and I just love their weekly emails every Saturday. They have lots of resources and books, boxes that you could buy each month for someone you love and care about, or if you just feel the need for something yourself as a treat… the people there just seem to really be about supporting those with mental health.
I haven’t been asked to endorse them, nor do I work for them, this is just my way of saying thank you to them for helping me over the last several years. I can’t even remember when I first found them!
So yes, it’s World Mental Health Day today. So talk to a friend, reach out to a loved one, pick up your phone and call someone you haven’t talked to in a while. Everyday should be like today where you reach out to your loved ones and share how you feel and listen to their own feels too. We are all in this together after all. We are never alone.
Thanks for reading, and keep it kandid!
